User computer

  • Operating system:
    recommended: Windows XP, 2000 or Vista
    minimum: Windows 98; Windows 98SE; Windows ME; Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 SP6a
  • Hard drive space
    about 50MB of free space
  • Operative memory
    recommended: 256MB or more
    minimum: 128MB
  • Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 recommended

Server operating system

  • Microsoft Small Business Server 2000* or 2003
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2000* or 2003
  • Microsoft Windows 98SE, 2000 or XP **

* Windows 2000 Server and desktop operating systems do not support SharePoint services
** Desktop operating systems have limitations to number of connecting users (max 5 or 10 simultaneous users depending on operating system).

Database server

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005 and SQL client access licenses (CALs) for all LawTime users
    or
  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 or MSDE (free database servers from Microsoft) No client access licenses are required from Microsoft but the size of the database and number of users can be limited
  • Windows Server 2003 required for SharePoint services
